Transition posting to portfolio project

Hello to everyone reading this! The whole year I have been waiting for this project to come and it’s finally here, how crazy is that?! From now on all my postings will be about my portfolio project. When introduced to this assignment, right off the bat I knew I wanted to work with the genres Thriller and Drama, those two are my favorite type of films to watch and I know I want to make something unique and suspenseful. I’ve been thinking a lot about different ideas and how to make the opening feel cinematic and engaging. Since this is our final portfolio piece I want to make sure it is perfect. Well, according to my dad, perfection is the enemy of good projects, so I will put my entire energy and effort to make a great engaging  2 minute movie opening.

Even though it is still early in the process, the whole week I have been writing down ideas that come to my head about different topics I can do. I know i’m going to Las Vegas next week, and I want to see if I can incorporate and shoot some scenes from there. The chaotic atmosphere and bright lights is something I know that is going to make my project unique. I am also visiting Zion National Park, which is quite the opposite to the city life but still keeps that ominous dramatic effect I am trying to go for. I’ve been brainstorming how both locations can make the overall production of my story come together and I want to bring you guys along in the process!

I have some ideas on what to do for each location but I am still not quite sure. I definitely want to include casinos if i’m choosing the Vegas city route, really capturing the essence and purpose of the city. Versus if I choose the park I want to use the nature to my advantage and make use of the eerie vibe to incorporate maybe a lost traveler or haunted setting. (I’ll include pictures from my trip as we go to get an idea and see what i lean more towards to.)
